Sarah McCammon is a Senior Fellow at the think tank Third Way in Washington, DC. She served most recently at NPR as a national political correspondent and host of the NPR Politics Podcast, where she reported on presidential campaigns, the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, and the intersection of politics and religion. 

She is a sought-after speaker and the author of The Exvangelicals, a 2024 New York Times bestseller. Her journalism has been recognized with numerous national honors, including a 2023 Edward R. Murrow Award for reporting on reproductive rights.

Half an Hour with David Frum

David Frum is a Canadian-American political commentator and a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush. He is a senior editor at The Atlantic.

In 2003 Frum authored the first book about Bush's presidency written by a former member of the administration. He has taken credit for the famous phrase "axis of evil" in Bush's 2002 State of the Union address. He is considered a voice in the neoconservative movement.

Frum formerly served on the board of directors of the Republican Jewish Coalition, the British think tank Policy Exchange, the anti-drug policy group Smart Approaches to Marijuana, and as vice chairman and an associate fellow of the R Street Institute.

Half an Hour with Peter Rough

Was steckt hinter diesen Entwicklungen? Welche Strategie – oder welche Vision – treibt die amerikanische Außenpolitik derzeit an?

Das Gespräch wird von Dr. Katharina Luther, Direktorin des Deutsch-Amerikanischen Instituts Tübingen, moderiert.

Peter Rough ist Senior Fellow und Direktor des Center on Europe and Eurasia am Hudson Institute, das er im Dezember 2022 ins Leben gerufen hat. Er schreibt und kommentiert zur US-Außenpolitik, berät regelmäßig offizielle Delegationen, Medienvertreter und Wirtschaftsführer und organisiert mehrere Track-1.5-Dialoge und Konferenzen.

Zuvor war Herr Rough als Forschungsdirektor im Büro von George W. Bush tätig, wo er an dessen MemoirenDecision Points mitwirkte. Gemeinsam mit Leila Fawaz verfasste er A Land of Aching Hearts (Harvard University Press, 2014), eine Sozialgeschichte des Ersten Weltkriegs im Nahen Osten. Von 2007 bis 2009 war er stellvertretender Direktor im White House Office of Strategic Initiatives. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er für die USAID und als Berater für das U.S. Army Special Operations Command.

Herr Rough hat einen BA mit Auszeichnung (summa cum laude) von der George Washington University sowie einen MA von der Fletcher School der Tufts University. Er ist Vorstandsmitglied des Bastion Institute und der American Main Street Initiative. Herr Rough spricht Deutsch als Muttersprache.

Eric Langenbacher is a Teaching Professor and Director of the Senior Honors Program in the Department of Government, Georgetown University, where he teaches courses on comparative politics. He is also Director of the Society, Culture and Politics Program at the American-German Institute. He studied in Canada before starting graduate work at Georgetown in 1996. He was awarded a Fulbright grant in 1999-2000 and held the Ernst Reuter Fellowship at the Free University of Berlin in 1999-2000, the Hopper Memorial Fellowship at Georgetown in 2000-2001, and was selected School of Foreign Service faculty member of the year by the 2009 graduating class. He has taught at George Washington University, Washington College, and at UNSAM in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He is the author of Comparative Politics: Mapping Institutions, Power, and Legitimacy (2024), co-author of "The German Polity, 12th edition" (2021) and has also published numerous edited volumes including Power and the Past: Collective Memory and International Relations (with Yossi Shain, 2010), Dynamics of Memory and Identity in Contemporary Europe (with Ruth Wittlinger and Bill Niven, 2013), and Shifting Paradigms in Contemporary German Politics and Policy (2024). His research interests center on political culture, collective memory, political institutions, public opinion and U.S., German and European politics, society, and business.
